July It's nearly time to harvest the lavender. If you want to dry your lavender for beautiful bouquets, the best time
to cut it is when the stalk has flowered about a 1/4 of the way. Lavender always begins blooming from the bottom, so keep
your eye out for just a few open flowers and then cut the stems long, wrap with a rubber band and then hang upside down in
a dark, dry area. Your bundle will be dry in about 2 weeks. If you're drying bundles just for the buds, it doesn't really
matter when you harvest. Remember though, if you cut all the stems in July, you'll promote plant growth and also get a few
more stalks by the end of summer. If
you have a lot of bundles to dry, hang them loosely from a chain or cabin and use an electric fan to circulate the air around
them.
